NaNoWriMo

Official NaNoWriMo 2004 ParticipantI’ve signed up for the National Novel Writing Month.

From the website:

What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month’s time.

Can anyone participate in NaNoWriMo? No. People who take their writing (and themselves) very seriously should probably go elsewhere. Everyone else, though, is warmly welcomed.

Why: NaNoWriMo is all about the magical power of deadlines. Give someone a goal and a goal-minded community and miracles are bound to happen. Pies will be eaten at amazing rates. Alfalfa will be harvested like never before. And novels will be written in a month, [so you can] mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

When: Sign-ups began October 1, 2004. Writing begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.

I just surfed in from Blog Explosion and wanted to wish good luck to another Nano novelist. Eight more days!
